![]() ![]() Regarding the CPU air temp sensor - it is possible that if you go to the Intel web site, and look for their support link, they may give you the answer you need, regarding part numbers for the fan and sensor. Part number of the fan would be useful if anyone knows it1 The machine is performing well other than the jet engine roar from the fan and so I would like to avoiding replacing the whole machine if there is a simple fix. ![]() If it is on the fan then replacement of the cpu fan should fix the problem while obviously if the sensor id elsewhere then replacing the fan will probably achieve nothing. Does anyone know where the air temperature sensor is located on a dell XPS 420, part number and where to get a replacement. I have checked the CPU temps with Speedfan and PC Wizard and both seem to suggest no overheating in the CPU (and I have replaced the thermal paste etc ) which brings me back to the air temperature sensor. Having run dell diagnostics the fan seems capable of powering down and up as expected in the diagnostics program and so I am left believing that the issue is with the air temperature sensor that I understand, at least in part, controls the fan speed. I have a dell XPS 420 that intermittently (well mostly) has the fan running full speed from start up with the associated noise. ![]() Monitor temperatures and Control Fan Speeds (For Dell laptops).
